Once you can prove the service is shit, they'll have to let you go. There are ready to go scripts around that'll do it automatically. If you wanna get out before your contact ends: hook up their router, setup a VM or raspberry pi and let it check your connection three times a day and log the results. Might not be as fast on paper, but so far I never had serious issues with DSL based services. If there is any alternative I'd try to get rid of Vodafone and go for fiber (if you're lucky enough to have that option) or (V)DSL. As someone already posted: it's a shared medium and it may differ each day how good or bad the connection is.Īlso Vodafone loves to blame the customer and hide information they simply have to provide because there is a law in place to make those public so you can use whatever router you want. Vodafone tends to have rather poor connections, especially in crowded areas with lots of customers connected. I'm just searching for some advice from people who run home labs and such in Germany, specifically ex unity media customers. Should I just give up and get this Fritzbox? Will this solve my issues, or is this just a German infrastructure thing that won't fix itself? Now, as tech-savvy as I am, I'm also learning with the whole dualstack configuration. I also get no help configuring some setting that I need from the ISP for my OPNsense and need to find German forums of people who have figured out what setting work for them. We called them, and they says there is nothing they can do and intend to improve my network where I am, but give no time frame. Sometime ill have a stable version I get working and then all of a sudden, internet just stops working or drops out. My problem is that the internet just sh$$s the bed sometimes, and I'm uncertain whether it's me or Vodafone. I Currently am running OPNsense on a Fujitsu thin client and love the functionality and security it provides for my homelab. I'm with Vodephone and have the 1gb/s internet wither proprietary sh$$ box.Īfter research and many calls with my lovely German wife (who helped translate) we were able to get the Sh$$ box into bridge mode. r/HomeNetworking - Simpler networking advice. r/pfsense - for all things pfsense ('nix firewall) Might be able to find things useful for a lab. r/hardwareswap - Used hardware, swap hardware. r/buildapcsales - For sales on building a PC r/linux - All flavors of Linux discussion & news - not for the faint of heart!
